La Sud Security was established as a subsidiary offering to La Sud Projects company  in 2013. La Sud Projects (www.lasudprojects.co.za) from inception has always worked in high risk areas. As the project manager for both companies I have hands on experience working in less than friendly sites. We are all familiar in the infrastructure industry of the scenario where you erect something during the day and it is stolen that night. Our specific situation was a lot scarier. The criminal element would come  50 – 100 strong at night and armed with an assortment of firearms.

We realised immediately that the gate guard with armed response backup was completely obsolete in our situation. This is when La Sud Projects began a working relationship with John #######. John was an officer in the military’s elite special forces unit during the SADF era, and has vast experience with high risk security threats. This specific company is involved with high risk mine security as well as cross border and overseas security disciplines, where protection of facilities and key personnel is required.

Another aspect that immediately became apparent is the legal and risk aspect of what we do. To protect ourselves and our clients we began an association with Hannes ###### an experienced litigator with specific emphasis on security work and security contractors. We are currently setting up law offices and services in other African countries as well. There is a huge need to assist with setting contracts up properly and legal assistance for security contractors if and when required.

After several years of working under the constant threat of attacks , La Sud projects realised that other companies might need the same service offering. La Sud Security was duly formed. We are experienced in the following areas, amongst others:

• Drone terrain photography in conflict and high risk areas
• Private military contracting for protection of properties and key people
• Legal and security risk analysis
• Rural area protection

La Sud Security is a DEFENSIVE more than OFFENSIVE security contracting company. We have strong views on legal, moral and ethical considerations regarding what we do. That being said we are trained to handle situations where the criminal element are aggressive and most times armed. We only work with legitimate businesses and legitimate governments of the day when working across the border.
